Lewis and Harris buses cut to skeleton service due to Covid-19 impact

A number of Lewis and Harris bus journeys are cancelled until next weekend at least as the impact of the coronavirus spread in Lewis causes “significant disruption” to services.
Scaled back timetables will operate with a focus of workers’ and school services.
Virtually all evening services - where they were provided - are cancelled.
The temporary changes are on the Comhairle website.
The information may be subject to change at very short notice.
Bus times for Tong, Back,and Tolsta are yet to be confirmed.
Harris services other than the Leverburgh - Tarbert - Stornoway run and the bus to Scalpay will operate as normal as will Harris school bus services.
Stornoway Bus Station remains closed for public access.
Earlier, the council highlighted school transport in Lewis and Harris will be “significantly affected” next week for all pupils expecting to attend school.
School transport is unavailable for most pupils and parents are asked to take all possible steps to undertake school transport directly
Where there is absolutely no alternative transport available, parents can make a request for transport.
The comhairle said it will try to make arrangements to meet all requests received but, due to the significant level of disruption caused by Covid-19 to the bus network, cannot guarantee that making a request will result in transport being provided.
Parents who complete a registration will be informed if transport will be possible.
ASN school transport in Lewis and Harris and all school transport across Uist and Barra is currently not affected.
The Laxdale School bus will operate as normal it is understood.
