Ferry services between Barra and Oban have suffered cancellations and disruptions over the past four days following a breakdown with the MV Isle of Lewis.

The ship turned back to the mainland port on Sunday when the problem emerged.

Sailings in both directions did not operate again on Wednesday as the vessel underwent repairs.

The technical issue is believed to be associated with one of her engines which requires significant work to rectify.

A sailing will take place, using an alternative vessel it is believed, on Thursday, leaving Oban at 2.10pm for a return run. Coll and Tiree have their timetable disrupted as a result.

Cal Mac thanked the Barra community for their "patience during this period of disruption."
