A man who failed to give breath tests to police has been sentenced.

James Beckett of Point, Lewis,was convicted after trial at Srtornoway Sheriff Court.

The court heard police asked the 37-year-old to provide two breathalyser tests to measure the proportion of alcohol in his system and ascertain his ability to drive at the time he was behind the wheel near the Braighe Road in August last year.

Sheriff David Sutherland banned him from driving for three years and fined him £450.
