A thief was caught after a relative posted a photo displayed his haul on snapchat.
Graham Martin of 3 Carnan Park, Shawbost, broke into snack kiosk at the pitch used by the local Westside Football Club in Barvas, Lewis.
The 20 year old took £20 worth of sweets and only £1 was recovered procurator fiscal Karen Snith told Stornoway Sheriff Court.
But member of his family boasted about the haul and uploaded a picture on social media.
David Teale said his client said it was a “thoughtless, stupid act.”
“He was hungry, the shop was shut and he had no money anyway,” added Mr Teale.
Martin was sentenced to a one year community payback order including 100 hours on unpaid community service work.
Sheriff David Sutherland also ordered him to pay £50 compensation at £5 per week
