An islander accused of threatening to throw a boulder at two police officers has been remanded in custody until a trial is held in September.

Domhnall Chalum Macleod of 11 Macmillan Brae, Stornoway, is accused of making lunging motions with the boulder at the officers and also threatening to throw it at their marked car on Thursday.

The 24-year-old denied the charge when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court today (Fri).

He also pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest and pulling away from the two officers, shouting and swearing, acting in an aggressive and hostile manner.

In addition, Macleod is accused of running into the middle of Willowglen Road, forcing oncoming cars to swerve to avoid hitting him.

Macleod - who represented himself at the custody court today - was refused bail and sent to custody in Inverness to await his next court appearance.
