An ordnance washed ashore in North Uist has been exploded by a Royal Navy bomb disposal team.

The phosphorous flare was found after the tide went out at at Paiblesgarry.

The bomb disposal squad travelled from Faslane to deal with the ordnance.

A controlled detonation of the device was carried out on Saturday.
