Scottish Water has issued a warning that bogus callers may try and impersonate water staff undertaking quality checks on household's drinking water.
The utility said fake callers may try and gain entry -
The company said its staff always have photo identification available and will arrive in recognisable vehicles.
It advises people to get the caller to pass their ID card or letter through the letter box and only open the door if satisfied if they are genuine.
Scottish Water carried out more than 150,000 water quality tests at customers’ taps last year to check the quality of drinking water
