Torsten Kulke was last seen in the area at around 6pm on Friday 28 July.

The 48-year-old flew into Scotland from Germany earlier that day. He hired a taxi at Stornoway Airport to take him to Uig. He was dropped off at an isolated spot by a cattle grid between the villages of Eristeadh and Aird Uig.

Extensive searches were carried out in the district including the shore, moorland and hills in the area.

His backback was found on cliff tops on the other side of the Gallan Head headline.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “There is not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
