Woman fraudulently claimed nearly £2500 of benefits 8/5/14
A woman who fraudulently claimed over £2000 of benefits was placed on a community
payback order when she appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court this week.
Carissa Harris failed to tell the Department of Works and Pensions she got married
in December 2012.
Stornoway Sheriff Court heard the 21-year-old received £2429 of income support she
was not entitled to between January and 8 October 2013 as a result.
Sheriff David Sutherland ordered Harris, of 42 Seaforth Road, Stornoway, to undertake
150 hours of unpaid community service work over the next 12 months.
