Benbecula airport experienced a 7.4% rise in the number of passengers during the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same point last year.

Some 7,656 people travelled via the Balivanich airfield between January and the end of March. The figure for the same period in 2014 was 7127.

In Stornoway, the rise was more subdued with 29,516 passengers - 1.6% up from the same period last year.

There was a 1.7% drop - 27 less travellers -  for Barra with some 1,561 passengers using the Traigh Mhor plane service in the first three months of this year. The decrease is said to be partly due to weather related cancellations.
