Until a couple of years ago the Bank of Scotland in Tarbert used to be open five days a week but then it started closing on Wednesdays.

Now, from next month it will also shut on Fridays

From 7th September it will only open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On these days it will remain open over lunchtime but the service faces an overall cut of four hours.

Current opening hours are Mon, Tues, Thur and Fri 1000-1230, 1330-1545. The new hours from 7 September will be Mon, Tues and Thur 1000-1500.

On the closure days, it leaves some residents in South Harris facing an 120 miles round trip to the nearest alternative branch in Stornoway.

Benbecula will see a five hour reduction across the week. It will start opening at lunch time but open later and close earlier. Current opening hours are Mon - Fri 0930-1230, 1330-1630. The new hours will be Mon- Fri 1000-1500.
