Bakery expansion creates new jobs

Eighteen staff have been taken on following an £525,000 investment at Stag Bakeries in Stornoway.

A new production plant, office and warehouse is incorporated into a recently constructed extension at its Seaforth Road site.

Workforce numbers are now up to 58 people while new machinery means increased output of sweet and savoury biscuits for island and export markets.

Sales into eleven countries include Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Norway and Portugal.
