Bad haircut day for driver             11/4/14

A man who committed a number of motoring offences on his way for a haircut has been fined £550.

At Stornoway Sheriff Court this week, Liam Middlemass also received six penalty points on his licence after taking his mother’s car to the barber’s on New Year’s Eve.

Middlemass whose address was given as 353 Glasgow Harbour Terraces, Glasgow, pleaded guilty by letter to taking the car from 24A South Bragar, Lewis, without consent year.

He accepted he didn’t have a driving licence nor insurance.

The 22-year-old also admitted using a mobile phone while driving on the Barvas road on 31 December.

Procurator fiscal David Teale told the court Middlemass took his mother’s car to get a haircut and was seen by police while driving.
