As an atheist I welcome The Rt Rev John Chalmers suggestion - Moderator’s message - that "knowledge of the substance and practise" of religion must be part of any rounded education, and look forward to reading the proof of the most fundamental aspects of this.

 

Also, hopefully, the allowance of atheistic views will be taught with as much assurance as their religious counterpart.

 

The encouragement of critical thinking is also welcomed and one hopes that this will be allowed to develop before the child is forced to practise religious observance in school, for fear of indoctrination.
