Western Isles Lord Lieutenant Iain Macaulay has awarded certificates of recognition to two members of the Army Cadet Force.

Army Cadet corporal, Anna Chisholm, of the Isle of Harris detachment, has been appointed as this year’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the Western Isles.

Major Norman Macleod of Western Isles Company said: “It is a well deserved recognition for Anna.”

He explained the appointment is of an individual who has shown that they've “excelled in Army Cadet force, is a good example and a mentor to other cadets.”

Her duties under the appointment will see her support Lord Lieutenant Iain Macaulay in his official duties while also acting as ambassador for her local unit and the wider cadet movement.

She received the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet badge to wear on her uniform as well as an official certificate of appointment.

Meanwhile, Staff Sergeant Instructor (SSI), Mairi Crate has been praised for her dedicated efforts in supporting the Harris Army Cadet unit.

SSI Crate received the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service.

Though living in Stornoway the busy volunteer is committed to help keep the Harris detachment operating with weekly trips to the Tarbert base and undertaking youth work as an instructor.
