Angus McCormack is temporary health board chairman   27/8/10

Vice Chair of Western Isles Health Board Angus McCormack will be standing in as Chair of the Board until the recruitment process for a new Chair is complete.

Board Chairman John Angus MacKay is due to leave NHS Western Isles at the end of August and Mr McCormack will take over on a temporary basis on September 1st.

It is anticipated that a new substantive Chair will be in place by the end of 2010.

Chair John Angus MacKay stated: “Angus McCormack has been a consistently supportive Vice Chair and he has an active interest in the wellbeing of our staff. In addition, as the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar nominee to the Board, he is well placed to continue to develop partnership relations. Under his leadership, I feel NHS Western Isles is in good hands.”

Vice Chair Angus McCormack said: “I am happy to stand in as Chair of the Western Isles Health Board until such time as a new Chair is appointed.

“I take over a Board in very good health and I wish to thank John Angus MacKay for his significant contribution to the Western Isles Health Board since February 2007.

“He has worked tirelessly to restore the Board to a position where the most recent Annual Review demonstrated that the Western Isles Health Board is now a strong team working to deliver the best health service to the people of the Western Isles.

“I wish John Angus all the best for his new challenge at Bòrd na Gàidhlig.”
