Allan is working hard for haulage issue 25/1/12
Sirs,
I respond to the vicious comments from the Labour Party’s Donald John Macsween in today’s Hebrides News (25 January 2012), directed at our MSP, Alasdair Allan.
The allegation that Alasdair Allan is “posted missing” on this issue is quite frankly laughably.
Anyone who has read the news recently will have seen that it was Mr Allan who arranged a meeting between the Government and around 50 representatives of the island haulage industry to allow for a frank exchange of views on this subject.
It is also Mr Allan who has arranged for representatives of the island haulage industry to meet with Keith Brown, Transport Minister, to discuss this topic.
Certainly from what I have seen Alasdair Allan has made no secret of the industries views when speaking to the media about this issue in the past several weeks.
Donald John Macsween should stop posturing as if he was an independent council candidate

It must also be said that the Labour Party opposed RET from its inception, and showed disdain for it the 8 years they were in government.
I would also point out that in the face of massive public spending cuts the SNP Government have retained RET for all passengers and vehicles, up to 5 metres in length and are in the process of an expansion of RET routes, including the Sound of Barra and Harris.
People are entitled to their views about ferries, but they are not entitled to descend to this completely unwarranted and transparently politically motivated level of personal abuse, such as that from Mr Macsween.
