An English adventurer was rescued off the Shiants by lifeboat today

The woman wanted to spend 40 days in the wilderness on the Shiant Isles off the east coast of Lewis but fell ill before she could finish her challenge.

Stornoway Coastguards said the casualty - aged in her 30s - reported having a “headache and feeling nauseous” a few days after “being banged and bashed” in a fall.

Stornoway lifeboat took her onboard and transferred her to an ambulance at Stornoway harbour.
