A small group of former Lews Castle, Nicolson Institute and Sir E Scott pupils are hoping to arrange a 60th Lewis and Harris class reunion this year.

This will be the first ever reunion for 1957 babies and the invitation is extended to some 1958 babies.

The invitation is going out to pupils who enrolled on Primary 1 in 1962. In 1968/69 they would have been in Primary 7 and sitting the 11+.

It also includes people who were born in 1958 and went to Lews Castle. They were joined by the 1957 pupils who had to complete three years in the rural schools because they were born after August.

The 1957 pupils with a birthday before August transferred at the end of 2nd year but those with birthdays after August completed third year at their rural secondary school.

The proposed event is earmarked for Friday 22nd September in Stornoway Golf Club.

The organising committee has a website at http://60reunion.weebly.com.

They ask former classmates to spread the word.

The committee is also looking for old school photos from back in the day to to share and help make the reunion a memorable occasion.

They would also welcome any former pupil who could contribute to organising the event.
